実際にはカスタムAuth0ルールの内部でエラーがスローされていましたが、認証コールバックによってのみ発生していました。

具体的には、auth0.users.updateAppMetadataとauth0.users.updateUserMetadataというパスワードのないSMS接続では機能しないというルールがありました。
